Haitian Rice and Beans


Made Adobo spice blend 2006/11/04:

1 tablespoon oregano
2 teaspoons Butter Buds® Sprinkles left out
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder  left out
1 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt

WHAT WE DID 2006/11/04:
Drain canned beans, reserving liquid (Reserved only 1/2 c. liquid - pp error).  Fry onions and garlic.  Add Adobe seasoning.   Add beans.  Add salt and pepper to taste.   Pour in 1/2 c. of reserved liquid plus additional 1 1/2 c. water.  Add 2 bay leaves. Bring liquid to boil.  Add 1 c. rice.  Cook rice.
